PGH - West Broward's Finest Hospital A milestone in the City of Plantation occurred on November 6, 1966, when Plantation General Hospital opened its doors and arms for the first time to the families of Broward County, FL. Looking back over the years, PGH is proud of its accomplishments and is honored to serve the communities who have supported us in 40 years of caring.
Broward GeneralMedicalCenter is proud to partner with Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH) on the county’s first liver transplant program. This landmark partnership means yet another “first” for Broward GeneralMedicalCenter and the North Broward Hospital District. But more importantly, it’s bringing lifesaving care to the community we serve.
The arrangement allows all residents within the five county SouthFlorida region, particularly Broward and Palm Beach counties, to benefit from JMH’s organ procurement processes. One of the biggest program benefits is that it enables Broward and Palm Beach residents to undergo liver transplants closer to home.
Broward General physicians and nurses are members of the transplant team and the hospital provides equipment and surgical facilities. JMH, which has been doing liver transplants since 1987, will provide the liver transplant surgeons, experts in liver transplants, clinical protocols and database, specialized lab services and transplant fellows.
